Introduction to HAL Investments
HAL is the Dutch investment subsidiary of HAL Holding N.V., an international investment company that is listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange via HAL Trust (Ticker symbol: HAL NA). HAL has a diverse portfolio of internationally active companies. The net asset value of HAL was € 11.2bn per the end of 2018.
The history of HAL dates back to 1873 when the Nederlandsch-Amerikaansche Stoomvaartmaatschappij (N.A.S.M.) was founded in Rotterdam. It was later renamed into Holland Amerika Line (HAL) and the last shipping activities were sold in 1989. With these proceeds HAL Investments started its investment activities.
HAL’s strategy is focused on acquiring significant shareholdings in companies, with the objective of increasing long-term shareholder value.
HAL holds significant positions in a number of quoted and non-quoted companies active in a wide range of industries both in the Netherlands and internationally.
