Introduction to HAL Investments
HAL is the Dutch investment subsidiary of HAL Holding N.V., an international investment company that is listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange via HAL Trust. HAL has a diverse portfolio of internationally active companies. The net asset value of HAL amounted to € 12.7bn at the end of 2020.
HAL’s history dates back to 1873 when the Nederlandsch-Amerikaansche Stoomvaartmaatschappij (N.A.S.M.) was founded in Rotterdam. It was later renamed Holland Amerika Line (HAL) and the last shipping activities were sold in 1989. With these proceeds HAL Investments began its investment activities.
HAL’s strategy is focused on acquiring significant shareholdings in companies, with the objective of increasing long-term shareholder value.
HAL holds significant positions in a number of listed and non-listed companies active in a wide range of industries both in the Netherlands and internationally.
